Blessed Carlo Acutis

A brief life history

Blessed Carlo Acutis was an Italian teenager born on May 3, 1991, in London and raised in Milan. From a young age, Carlo displayed a deep love for God and a remarkable devotion to the Eucharist. His strong faith was evident in his daily life, where he attended Mass, prayed the Rosary, and spent hours in Eucharistic adoration. Despite his young age, Carlo possessed a mature understanding of the Catholic faith and sought to share it with others.

Carlo was also a gifted computer programmer and used his talents to create a website cataloguing Eucharistic miracles from around the world. He believed that the internet could be a powerful tool for evangelization and wanted to help others come to know and love Jesus in the Eucharist as he did. His website remains a valuable resource for those seeking to deepen their understanding of this central aspect of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his technical skills, Carlo was known for his kindness and compassion. He had a special love for the poor and would often use his pocket money to buy sleeping bags for homeless people in his city. Carlo’s life was a testament to the idea that holiness is attainable for everyone, regardless of age. Carlo Acutis died of leukemia on October 12, 2006, at the age of 15. He offered his suffering for the Church and the Pope, expressing a deep sense of peace and trust in God. He was beatified on October 10, 2020, in Assisi, Italy, and is often called "the patron saint of the internet." His life continues to inspire young people around the world to live their faith authentically and use their talents for the glory of God.

Blessed Carlo Acutis, pray for us!
